2 years after her death, woman gives family wonderful Christmas gift Brenda Schmitz, wife and mother of four, passed away in September 2011 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was 46. A month before she died, Schmitz wrote a letter addressed to a Des Moines, Iowa, radio station and instructed a friend to wait to mail it until her husband, David, had fallen in love again. The station, Star 102.5, invited David, who recently got engaged, into the studio last week to share the letter with him.

Dobri Dimitrov Dobrev  ( Bulgarian :  Добре Димитров Добрев ) (born 20 July 1914), better known as  Grandpa Dobri  or  Elder Dobri  ( Bulgarian :  дядо Добри ) is a Bulgarian  ascetic  who walks several kilometers each day to sit or stand in front of the  Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky  in  Sofia  to collect money for charitable causes. The Saint of Bailovo    donates all the money he collects to charities, orphanages, churches and monasteries. He is respected world-wide for his humble and selfless deeds. In 2009 he donated 35 700 leva (then approximately 20 000 Euro) to the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, the largest donation to the Cathedral made by an individual until then.   His father died in  World War I  and he was raised by his mother. In one of the  bombings of Sofia during Second World War  a bomb fell near him and he lost almost all his hearing. With so many social media sites out there, majority of netizens are still only using Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter. This “social media fatigue” resulting from too many choices may be the reason why these social media sites that were once in the spotlight, have now died out. 1. iTunes Ping Released in September 2010 and closed in September 2012, this social media site is a music-oriented social networking service that was developed by Apple. During its short lifespan, the site was plagued with many problems such as spam, fake accounts, limited availability and most detrimentally, the inability to reach an agreement with Facebook for an integration. Because Ping failed to gain much traction with users. The social network remained operational until iTunes 10.6.3. 2. #WWII - During WWII, Japan bombed China with fleas infected with bubonic plague - Japan and Russia still haven’t signed a peace treaty to end World War II due to the Kuril Islands dispute. - 2 million German women aged 13-70 were allegedly raped by the Red Army on WWII - A Japanese Soldier didn’t surrendered until 29 years after WWII was over, in 1974. In 1944, Lt. Hiroo Onoda was sent by the Japanese army to the remote Philippine island of Lubang. His mission was to conduct guerrilla warfare during World War II. Unfortunately, he was never officially told the war had ended; so for 29 years, Onoda continued to live in the jungle, ready for when his country would again need his services and information. Eating coconuts and bananas and deftly evading searching parties he believed were enemy scouts, Onoda hid in the jungle until he finally emerged from the dark recesses of the island on March 19, 1972. - Queen Elizabeth II served as a mechanic and driver in World War II - U.S. Soldier
